CNY in London

Location : Reading, England.

So the Chinese New Year(CNY) started on 2 days ago on Sunday and it goes on for 15 days. I went down to London last weekend because I felt like being in the mood to celebrate. It's funny how I never gave a damn about stuff like lion dances, CNY music, firecrackers, blah blah blah because I grew up with it but then in a foreign country, stuff like that kinda matters. I spent the first day of CNY in Oriental City in Colindale, London. While having lobster for lunch in one of the restaurants, a CNY lion decided to pay the restaurant a visit...

Lion standing tall
Lion scanning for chicks
Lion in the restaurant
Hungry lion

First, the lion comes round looking for red packets(filled with money) and lettuce that Chinese people hang at the front door. Then the lion munches the lettuce....and spits it out!!! In this particular case, the damn lion spat the lettuce back on me! Wot da....? I don't remember that happening back home. Can someone out there tell me why do the lions spit the lettuce back? Or maybe he just don't like my face? I wanted to kick the lion's ass but being in the Chinese New year mood and all....I let it slide. =) Anyway, after prancing around like a drunkard outside the restaurant for a while, the lion stepped right in and starting drooling over customers' food. Some lions ain't got no manners, I tell ya!

All in all, CNY in London was quite cool. Oriental City is basically a mall filled with everything Asia. The management's effort for the CNY celebrations was commendable. That goes without saying it was all about prosperity(as it normally is with the Chinese). In the Oriental City, everything related to prosperity made an appearance - the God of prosperity, the red colour of prosperity, firecrackers of prosperity, cute Chinese girls of prosperity, etc. And oh yeah, I forgot how much I luurrrrrrvve seeing girls in cheongsam. It's a traditional Chinese dress with those yummy slits on the sides that can make it hard for me to walk! No, I don't mean wearing the cheongsam but just the sight of a girl in cheongsam can drive me....anyway-she-wants-to. Yeah baby! Rowr...

The reason of that the lion spat the lettuce to you. It's might probably to bring a good sign for you, which means you might have lucky year on this year. However there is thing you need to do is to act like dog barking sound to those people everytime I see them on the street.
